Take your time on Motie’s final evening of ADE. Follow a voice, watch a movement repeat and see what changes when you stay with a work a little longer. The installations share the evening with live dance by Arno Schuitemaker.

Nxt Museum is Motie’s exclusive curatorial partner for the art programme. Amsterdam’s museum for new media art explores the meeting of art and technology. At Motie, that curiosity takes shape in works by Heleen Blanken, Daniel de Bruin and Sophia Bulgakova, inviting you to experience the space through light, movement and sound.

• Helios — Heleen Blanken & Daniel de Bruin. Light and movement give this kinetic installation its own rhythm. Spend time watching it unfold, then discover how a live ambient interpretation can change your experience of the work.
• Spomyny — Sophia Bulgakova. “Spomyny” means “memories” in Ukrainian. Through an installation of pipes, voices, conversations and recordings reveal fragments of life during Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Listen closely to the individual experiences carried within a much larger story.
• Sensitive Guidelines — Sophia Bulgakova. A new work presented alongside Spomyny, bringing another part of Bulgakova’s practice into Motie’s first ADE edition.

Arno Schuitemaker

Arno Schuitemaker makes dance you can feel in your own body. His intensely physical work brings movement, music and lighting into close conversation. At Motie, his performance offers another way to experience rhythm, drawing your attention from the sound to the bodies moving through it.

Gizem Öz brings her practice as a composer and sound artist to the evening’s live ambient interpretation of Helios.
